God’s nature is love. God loves all people, no matter what they have done in the past.
God is one. We experience God in three “persons”: Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit.
We are created in God’s image. God wants to be in relationship with us. God has a purpose for each of us.
We separate ourselves from God by not living as God intends. Our opposition to God’s intention is called sin.
Sin prevents us from being in a right relationship with God. Another consequence of sin is death.
God reaches out to us through Jesus to bring us back into a right relationship. Jesus defeated sin and death by dying on a cross and coming back to life on the third day afterward. Jesus’s death and resurrection make a right relationship with God possible, along with eternal life in Heaven. God’s reaching out to us is the free gift of grace. We cant do anything to earn grace; we only have to accept it.
God restores us into a right relationship when we believe (have faith) that Jesus is God, that He died for us on the cross, and that He came back to life. This faith in God’s grace simultaneously includes us confessing our sin to God, and turning away (repenting) from our disobedient ways back to God. God forgives the sin that we repent from and confess.
God is with us in our day-to-day lives through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is there to guide, to comfort, and to help us. We have access to the Holy Spirit through prayer (talking to God).
The Bible is God’s word that guides us. It was written by people who were inspired by God.
God calls us to live out our faith together in the Church. We strive to serve and to love people as Jesus showed us.
Evil is real. It exists as a result of the misuse of free will. Ultimately, God will defeat all evil. God can and does bring good out of evil.
